The render meshes for the selection are flattened and that flattened mesh is used as the mapping space for applying textures. 2048 = 16px The Unwrap command projects the texture coordinates of the selected objects to a specified region of space. You can calculate how much edge padding your islands need by multiplying by 2: 256 = 2px. To avoid this, you add padding to the UV shells when unwrapping to enable whoever is texturing the model to add a padded edge with the same colours when texturing to avoid this from happening. I'm not sure if Keyshot uses the UV info in the Rhino 3dm file. I'd suggest using box mapping for a box shape though in most cases. I can't post an image here so email tech if you want a screen shot.

Meshes without UV coordinates (e.g., imported from STL files) do not have UV meshes to edit When unwrapping a mesh, you may need to unweld the edges along the texture seam before using the Unwrap command to avoid mapping distortion around the seam.The part looks simple so you can easily straighten the polygons on uv unwrap by hand etc.
